Rare Mechanical Models Magazines 1938 Lot X 2 W/ Catalogue & Publisher's Letter

Mechanical Models (Magazine)- Issues vol. 1- # 2 & #3 w/ letter from publisher dated 2 May 1938 noting the magazine had to suspend publication. Published monthly, New York by Mechanical Models Publishing Company.2 issues, each c. 22 pages plus wrappers. Text in English. Illustrated throughout. Nice assortment of dated advertising as well, often illustrated. A short-lived modeling magazine which seems to have only published 3 or 4 issues total. Nice lot of 2 early 20th century American modeling magazines with pleasing visual content. Issues included in this lot: February, March 1938 (issues #2 & 3). Lot includes an original 1938 mailing envelope w/ signed letter from publisher indicating the cancellation of the magazine's publication, and a ship scale model parts price list from Summer 1938. Bindings remain clean, tight, and sound, various mostly small signs of age, time and handling, nothing offensive or major. Each overall a nice looking example. Small age flaws or defects include possible random old creasing, edge chipping and splits, small light old staining, etc. Overall entirely acceptable examples of what are certainly scarce survivals. The pictures give a very good sense of how each item survives. Virtually all periodicals of this era are somewhat scarce today as loose complete issues. Like most random survivals of old periodical printing, any specific example (like this one) is likely among a relative handful still extant. As each decade goes back from 1950, the rate of scarcity for any specific magazine or paper item increases noticeably. Text block remains overall clean, and displays a pleasing age patina. Magazines remain attractive on the shelf. They displays a pleasing and unique age patina and is in nice antiquarian condition, any age flaws easy to overlook or forgive.
