Damp stains throughout the text in the upper and lower mid sections of the pages. Stains do not affect the text. Folded map is slightly damp stained at the upper edge. Front cover also has a damp stain. This copy is inscribed by Charles C. Jones, Jr. to J. Hammond Trumbull on the front paste down. Included with book is a signed letter by the author addressed to J. Hammond Trumbull Esq. Hartford, Connecticut. The letter is dated August 5th, 1874. J. Hammond Trumbull small name label located in the upper left corner of the front paste down. According to Howes 100 copies printed on large paper "not all have the 7 page index". Howes J 206; De Renne II p.746. J. Hammond Trumbull (1821-1897) was a scholar and historian from Connecticut. He was a member of the American Antiquarian Society and author of "The Memorial History of Hartford County" published in 1886.
