St. Barth Islander Eau De Parfum For Men 100 Ml

LIGNE ST BARTH Islander EDP 100 ml In the 16th century, sailors discovered West Indian laurel, the common name given to Pimenta racemosa, a small plant native to the Antilles, also known as Bay St Thomas. Its dried leaves, rubbed on the body, release an extremely fragrant oil, excellent for refreshing and perfuming oneself after months spent at sea... While farmers in the Antilles were busy shipping sugar to Europe, some particularly ingenious slaves on the same plantations discovered that fermented molasses (a by-product of sugar) could be transformed into a sweet alcoholic beverage. So, master brewers used the rough recipe created by the slaves to distill the drink in order to increase its alcohol content, obtaining the famous rum. This methodology (distillation) became an excellent opportunity used by an ingenious sailor from the Virgin Islands to infuse the leaves and extract the essential oils. That was how Bay Rhum was born. This cologne, enriched with spices, citrus zest, cinnamon... created to be used by the islanders in their daily lives, quickly became a popular choice for people to use in massages or after shaving. Created in the Antilles, this fragrance has been a huge success all over the world. Popular in New York among American barbers and appreciated by the male population, it was also introduced to the royal courts of Europe. Bay Rum is still extremely popular with men in the Caribbean islands (from Bermuda to the Bahamas, Barbados and the Virgin Islands). Ligne St Barth has sought to preserve this wonderful Caribbean tradition, while adding a touch of modernity to create an absolutely exclusive fragrance. The top notes have been preserved (lime, West Indian laurel on an accent of aged rum from Martinique) and Guatemalan cardamom, the queen of spices, and vetiver have been introduced. The base notes are Caribbean guaiac wood, Havana tobacco and Atlas cedar. This olfactory composition has been named Islander. EDP 100 ml
