The Remains Of The Day, Kazuo Ishiguro, Faber and Faber, 1989, First Edition Reprint Winner of the Booker Prize in 1989, adapted into film in 1993 starring Anthony Hopkins and Emma Thompson and included in the list of seventy books selected to celebrate the Platinum Jubilee of Elizabeth II. The story tells of Stevens, a butler in service at Darlington Hall, who takes a road trip to visit a former colleague and reminisces about events at the hall in the 1920s and 1930s. In near fine condition, the binding is straight and tight, the boards clean and the lettering on the spine bright. There is minimal shelf wear to the top edge of the spine. The end papers and page are free from tears and inscriptions. There are small marks to the top and bottom edges. The unclipped dust jacket is in very good condition with a crease mark to the top corner of the front cover, shelf wear to the top edge of the front cover, shelf wear to the top and bottom edges of the spine and shelf wear to the top and bottom edges of the back cover. Will be dispatched carefully wrapped in bubblewrap and a cardboard box.
