(London), 5 1/2 x 7 7/8 inches tall blue cloth hardcover, no dust jacket, gilt design to front cover, gilt design and lettering to spine, brown endpapers, illustrated with eight full-page engravings, 297 pp. plus seven unnumbered plates. Moderate soiling, rubbing and edgewear to covers, with bumping and fraying to all four tips. The spine, which is quite creased, appears to have been reinforced at some point, and the binding is quite solid, though the spine is slightly cocked. A very small edge tear to the fore edge of the title page. A few pages - mostly the engraved plates - are a bit age toned.
