First edition; 4to (237 x 232 mm, 9¼ x 9¼ in); black-and-white photographs printed in offset, 12 reproductions of maps, photographs and paintings in a separate section at the end; peach printed endpapers, white paper-covered boards, titles in black on spine and upper side, black-and-white photo-illustrated dust-jacket, white, text in red and black, lightly marked, minor toning, short tear and crease to upper panel at spine, near-fine in an excellent dust-jacket; [106]pp. These photographs were taken in the late 1950s to 1960s in the Pigalle area of Paris, where Strömholm lived and worked. He got to know a community of transgender women who gathered in the Place Blanche, developed a close friendship with many of them, and continued photographing them for over ten or so years.
