From the Introduction: "In this book the idea is to explain features of the sport of boxing as shown by some of the most prominent battlers of the ring. Not only is it necessary to have full knowledge of the correct manner of using all the blows and guards of the game, and a thorough knowledge of ducking and foot work, but it is also highly essential to be posted on the mental attitude of one's opponent. Many a bout is won before a blow is struck. If a boxer is wise he will protect himself against mental attacks."
