Very Good with light wear to covers, spine darkened and slightly bruised ends, lettering dulled. Former owner's bookplate, name and address on front endpapers along with a card pasted under "Please accept with Mrs. Lovettes compliments". Acknowledgements leaf loose; light toning to contents. A runaway hit pedagogical text that went through six editions and helped birth over 100 Montessori schools within two years in the United States. Provenance of Madeline Daggett Darrough Horn (1888-1978) an American author of the children's book Farm on the Hill, which she wrote in cooperation with famed artist Grant Wood, who illustrated the work. She was the author of several other works geared to readers in grades one through three. Wood is best known for his famous painting American Gothic, 1930.
