[Artist's biography: Ann Smith was a goldsmith by trade, a highly skilled artisan working out of Chipping Campden in the Cotswolds, but with a passion for botanical illustration. She was a member of various botanical art societies; she exhibited at the Royal Horticultural Society (RHS) Botanical Art exhibitions held in The Lindley Hall, London; for the 2004 exhibition she prepared a mixed collection of botanical works including studies of Romneya coulteri and Papaver orientalis 'Beauty of Livermere', in a later exhibition she presented a themed collection featuring various Meconopsis (blue popy) species and cultivars.
