Die, Evan Dando, Die Fox, Jeff, Ed Music,Zines

8vo, saddle-stapled wraps. With a prospectus for the zine laid in. One of about 200 copies printed. . A rare first printing, mailed to a fellow fanzine editor, of one of the 90's zines that brought mainstream attention to the zine scene - for better or worse. Die, Evan Dando, Die was the brainchild of Jeff Fox, who had made the great parody zine Maximum Rock n' Raoul. As covered in Entertainment Weekly and other mainstream venues, Fox made only 200 copies of the zine initially, but after a deluge of fan mail and death threats and coverage in all sorts of magazines he made another 800 copies and distributed them nationally, at Tower Records and other venues. A fascinating artifact on mainstream media, the zine scene, and celebrity culture. As reported in the above article, Dando, when reached for comment, took it in stride - "I haven't seen it yet, but I think it's cool that I can inspire people to be creative and express themselves," says Dando. "It's nice that people have hobbies." Sounds just like a Lemonheads song lyric. Fine.
