The boards have some rubbing to the edges and corners and to the top and bottom of the spine with a little staining to the rear pane which also has a small scratch near the bottom left cornerl. There is some browning to the page edges. The front free endpaper has the bookplate of Anthony Edwards, Life Fellow of Gonville & Caius College and retired Professor of Biometry at the University of Cambridge. He has also written his name in ink with a date at the top of the front free endpaper. This book was part of his collection of Cambridge books which was a reflection of his keen and active interest in the governance of the Collegiate University. Browning to the endpapers with an earlier owner's bookplate to the front pastedown. The pages are a little browned but are generally clean and unmarked. No jacket. First printing.
