First edition, with three of the critical first issue points: "Him and Another Man" illustration erroneously listed at page 88; "Huck Decided" (rather than "Decides") on the Contents page under Chapter VI; and the "with the was" misprint on page 57. Page 283 is in the corrected third state, as it is in all cloth bound copes (the curved fly and the rarely found prank versions are only found in some leather bound copies, never cloth). Other variants appear at random, among first issue copies. In this copy, the second "5" on page 155 appears larger. On the plate featuring he bust of Twain: the cloth is visible below the bust, and the plate has the "Heliotype Printing Co." imprint. This copy is the scare blue cloth variant. Only about one in twenty were printing in blue. Cloth cover expertly repair at corners, edges, spine ends and joints. Various minor flaws throughout, including a few pages with chipped corners, but not loss of text. All blank endpapers present, no bookplates, no inscriptions.
