First printing of the edition abridged and edited by Edward Conybeare. There is fraying along the edges of the spine - two one inch patches next to the rear panel and a two inch patch at the top next to the front panel with two smaller patches below this. Fraying also at the top and bottom of the spine and to the corners. Gilt lettering to the front panel and the spine - bright on the front and a little dulled on the spine. The front panel also has some black decorations. The front panel has some small stains and marks on it but the rear panel is largely unmarked. There is a little discolouration to the page edges. Tearing along the hinges at the endpapers with this tearing quite heavy at the front where the binding is rather slack. Scattered spotting to the title page, to a few pages near the front and to a few pages at the back but the pages are otherwise generally clean and unmarked.
