The scarce first edition of this early Thorndyke novel in the original red cloth, includes a facsimile dust wrapper.320 bright pages with no loss. Includes spelling error on page 109. Inscribed on the front free end paper by the author to a personal friend, Alice Bishop, whose children he had previously tutored, and dated 22nd. October, 1925. The binding is lightly age soiled but internally the book is clean, tight and unmarked with only mild offsetting to the end papers. A very good copy of a scarce title, particularly so inscribed.
