Well-produced item on hand made paper, nicely printed, with attractive headpieces and illuminated initials. Edward Ward (1667-1731) was a publican and satirical author, best known for The London Spy, published in eighteen parts monthly from November 1698. Geoffrey Callender (1875-1946) was a naval historian, honorary secretary and treasurer of the Society for Nautical Research from 1920, and first director of the National Maritime Museum, Greenwich from 1937.
