This unusual promotional map was illustrated by Parker Edwards and published by the Sonoma County Wine Growers Association in 1967. Primary automobile routes are noted in bright red, guiding the intrepid oenophile (wine lover) to numerous named wineries including Korbel, Sebastiani, and Buena Vista. Scattered amid the vineyards are numerous vignettes that highlight geographic features, agricultural exports, and historic sites, figures, and events. The stereotypical depiction of the Chinese in the center of the sheet is offensive to a modern audience but also reflects the important contribution of Chinese laborers (including water carriers) to the development of California's wine industry. A 2" closed tear in the lower right has been repaired on the verso with archival tape. Scattered faint wrinkling from where previously rolled. Good to very good condition overall."
