Printerd for Bernard Lintot, 1725 London, this is the second volume of Alexander Pope's translation. Large paper edition, 11"x8.5", which was printed in an edition of 610 copies for subscribers. The title page printed in black and red ink "translated from the GREEK" is noted on title page. Engraved headpieces throughout with engraved tailpieces with square impressions from the plate marks. This was a library copy and was rebound with black linen cloth and University of California endpaper.Very tight binding and interior pages are in very good condition. The title pages and some of the engravings have been stamped with light blue oval library stamps. Ink mark from printer on page 187 and repaired partial page tear on page 243. Notwithstanding the library interference, this 300 year old publication is a delightful volume to experience. Please see the attached photographs. 335 numbered pages
